The life of Piare Bhai Daya Singh ji, the founder of the Spiritual Lineage, is a wonderful example of faith, devotion, worship and piety.

The royal splendor of Anandpur, beauty of Paonta Sahib, formation of the Khalsa, the battles of Anandpur, separation of family on the banks of Sirsa river, battle of Chamkaur Sahib, forests of Machhiwara, departure to the Malwa as the Ucch da Pir, sending of Zafarnama (Letter of victory) to Aurangzeb, meeting with Emperor Bahadur Shah, etc. were such stages of wonderful life of Guru Gobind Singh ji which Bhai Sahib ji witnessed closely and also registered his involvement at every stage of life of Guru ji who had come to see the drama of world.

He has born to Mata Dyali ji and Bhai Sudha ji on 11^th Bhadon, 1718 Vikrami Samvat, i.e. on August 26, 1654 A.D. Bhai Sudha ji was a descendant of Bhai Paro Julka Paramhansa, a devout Sikh of Guru Angad Dev ji.

ਇਸ ਸੰਪ੍ਰਦਾਇ ਦੇ ਬਾਨੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਦਇਆ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਿਦਕ, ਸ਼ਰਧਾ, ਬੰਦਗ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਨਮੂਨਾ ਹੈ।

ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਠਾਠ, ਪਾਂਉਟੇ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਾਰੇ, ਖਾਲਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ, ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ, ਸਰਸਾ ਕੰਢੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ, ਚਮਕੌਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਕਾ, ਮਾਛੀਵਾੜੇ ਦੇ ਜੰਗਲ, ਉੱਚ ਦੇ ਪੀਰ ਬਣਕੇ ਮਾਲਵੇ ਵੱਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਥਾਨ, ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ ਦਾ ਪੈਗ਼ਾਮ (ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਾ), ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪੜਾਅ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇਖਣ ਆਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਮੋੜ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਦਰਜ ਵੀ ਕਰਾਈ।

ਆਪ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਭਾਈ ਸੁੱਧਾ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਿਆਲੀ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ੧੧ ਭਾਦ੍ਰੋਂ ੧੭੧੮ ਬਿ. ਸੰਮਤ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ 26 ਅਗਸਤ 1654 ਈ. ਨੂੰ ਹੋਇਆ। ਭਾਈ ਸੁੱਧਾ ਜੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਅਨਿੰਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈ ਪਾਰੋ ਜੁਲਕਾ ‘ਪਰਮਹੰਸ’ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ਜ ਸਨ।

Baba Sobha Singh ji of Anandpur Sahib was very much influenced with the services of Bhai Daya Singh Ji, head of the Five Beloved Ones and the founder of the Spiritual Lineage. Acknowledging his life as an ideal Gursikh, he also geared up for his services by dedicating himself to the Guru.

After Guru Gobind Singh ji left for his heavenly abode, if one talks of fully devoted sikhs who did selfless service of Anandpur Sahib and took care of re-inhabitating it, two names are mentioned in the first go: one Bhai Gurbaksh ji and second Baba Sobha Singh ji.

Bhai Gurbaskh Singh ji remained active in the service of Ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur ji’s, Sisganj Sahib and Baba Sobha Singh ji of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib.

ਬਾਬਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਪ੍ਰਦਾਇ ਦੇ ਬਾਨੀ ਭਾਈ ਦਯਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਾਇਲ ਰਹੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਹੋਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਮਰਕੱਸਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਬਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਰਜੀਵੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਦੋ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਬਖਸ਼ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ।

ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਜੀ ਨੌਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸੀਸਗੰਜ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੇਸਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਤਪਰ ਰਹੇ।

Baba Sahib Singh ji Bedi Una Sahib’s prestige and fame in the Panth was due to the filial descent of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as his versatile personality and contribution in every field of service to the Panth. At the request of his grandfather Baba Kaladhari ji, Guru Gobind Singh ji blessed him with a grandson and asked in advance to name him Sahib Singh.

He was born to Mata Sarup Devi ji and Baba Ajit Singh ji Bedi. He had a love for Gurbani since his childhood. When he went to Sri Anandpur Sahib with inspiration of his mother and got baptized, it was like an icing on the cake. Baba Sobha Singh ji was performing his services at Sri Anandpur Sahib at that time. He was very glad to see the jewel of Bedi clan in the domain of Gurmat.

Observing his love for Sikh scriptures, identity and fortitude approach towards Sikhism, he gave him the service of leading this Spiritual Lineage. While performing this service, he served the Panth very well by baptizing millions of Sikhs who were in search of Amrit.

His political life is also very unique. He always used to keep an army of armed heroes with him. He also fought wars to punish cow slaughters and other opponents of religion.

ਬਾਬਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਊਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੰਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਠਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬਿੰਦੀ ਵੰਸ਼ਜ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਪੱਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਥਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਏ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਸੀ। ਆਪ ਦੇ ਦਾਦਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਕਲਾਧਾਰੀ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਲਗੀਧਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਤ੍ਰੇ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਵਾਜ਼ਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਆਪ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਬਾਬਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਉਦਰੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਤਾਂ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕ ਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁਹਾਗੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਬਾਬਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਆਪ ਬੇਦੀ ਕੁਲਭੂਸ਼ਣ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਦਾਇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਬਾਣੀ-ਬਾਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਸਿਦਕ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਪ੍ਰਦਾਇ ਦੇ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਨੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੰਘਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੰਡੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕਾ ਕੇ ਪੰਥ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿੱਗਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

Sant Bhag Singh ji Kuri Wale, from his childhood, was an epitome of devotional worship, spiritual yoga, detachment, righteousness and renunciation. He spent most of his life in the company of coterie of saints, doing spiritual deliberations and going for pilgrimages.

While on pilgrimage, he would sometimes encounter dreadful wild animals but after having his holy glimpse even they used to give up their wild nature.

He met one prostitute in Wazirabad. She got so impressed by doing his darshan (glimples) that she came out of the mire of vices and started worshiping God, holding a tasbeeh (rosary: string of beads).
After visiting many religious places, he went on a pilgrimage to Takht Abchal Nagar Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib, Nanded.

On his return, with the inspiration of Baba Sahib Singh ji Bedi of Una Sahib, he got baptized. Afterward, he did a great austere worship in the town of Kuri.

ਸੰਤ ਭਾਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਕੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ, ਜੋਗ, ਵੈਰਾਗ, ਨੇਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਸਨ।

ਮਹਾਂਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੰਡਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਚਰਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗ਼ੁਜਾਰਿਆ।

ਤੀਰਥ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਾਹ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਖੂੰਖਾਰ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਸੁਭਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ। ਵਜ਼ੀਰਾਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਕਬੂਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਲਦਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਤਸਬੀ ਫੜ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗ਼ੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

Baba Bir Singh ji, born in the house of Sardar Sewa Singh ji in the village Gagobuye, received Santhya (lessons of correct pronunciation) of Guru Granth Sahib ji at an early age, read other holy books of Vedanta and became a scholar of high calibre.

He inherited military life. After his father’s martyrdom in the battle of Multan, he joined the cavalry of Khalsa army. He submitted his resignation after doing service for a few years. Thereafter he came to do services under the patronage of Baba Bhag Singh ji Kuri Valey.

Seeing his many years of untiring Sewa (service), Baba ji sent him to Baba Sahib Singh ji Bedi of Una Sahib, where he continued to serve diligently.

ਮਾਝੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਗੱਗੋਬੂਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਛੋਟੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਥਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਹੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੇਦਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉੱਚ ਕੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਬਣ ਗਏ।

ਫੌਜੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਘੋੜ ਸਵਾਰ ਦਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ।ਕੁੱਝ ਸਾਲ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਨਾਮ ਕਟਵਾ ਕੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਭਾਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਪਾਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

ਆਪ ਦੀ ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਥੱਕ ਘਾਲਣਾ ਦੇਖ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਪਾਸ ਊਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਬੜੀ ਤਨਦੇਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ।

Baba Maharaj Singh was born in Uchhi Rabbon, near Kupp Rohira, where Vaddha Ghalughara took place. His childhood name was Hihal Singh.

Inspired by Sant Samund Singh ji, he went to Baba Bir Singh ji Naurangabad, took Khande da Amrit (got baptized) and geared up for ceaseless service of Guru Ka Langar.

During the services, he used to humbly address everyone, ‘Take Parshada Maharaj Ji! Take Daal Maharaj ji, etc. (Take food, your majesty!) Due to such courteous conduct, he became popular by the name of ‘Maharaj Singh’ in Sangat.

Martyrdom of Baba Bir Singh ji, which took place in front of his eyes, acutely traumatized him. Although Baba Khuda Singh ji, a great ascetic who used to devotionally engross in divine love, gave him the robe of honour and responsibility of the Dera on the occasion of Baba Ji’s Dusshera (Bhog), but there was totally something else going on in his mind.

ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਿੰਡ ਉੱਚੀ ਰੱਬੋਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕੁੱਪ ਰੋਹੀੜਾ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਦੀ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਆਪ ਦਾ ਬਚਪਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਹਿਹਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੀ।

ਸੰਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਪਾਸ ਨੌਰੰਗਾਬਾਦ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਮਰਕੱਸਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।

ਸੇਵਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ, ‘ਲਓ ਮਾਹਾਰਾਜ ਜੀ! ਪਰਸ਼ਾਦਾ’, ‘ਲਓ ਮਾਹਾਰਾਜ ਜੀ! ਦਾਲਾ’ ਆਦਿ। ਆਪਦੇ ਇਸ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਤੀਰੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਪ੍ਰਚੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

ਬਾਬਾ ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਵਾਪਰੀ, ਨੇ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਲੂੰਧਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਲਮਸਤ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਨੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਖੁਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਦੁਸਹਿਰੇ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਡੇਰੇ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਪਰ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਧੇੜ-ਬੁਣ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।

Baba Ram Singh ji was one of the most trusted associates of Baba Maharaj Singh ji. During the struggle with the British Government, Baba Maharaj Singh ji used to visit his Dera (place) quite often in routine.

Baba Ram Singh ji kept inspiring his close ones and disciples to cooperate with Baba Maharaj Singh ji. Baba Maharaj Singh ji had entrusted him the task of freeing Maharaja Daleep Singh from the clutches of the British, though unfortunately that task could not be accomplished.

With the arrest and martyrdom of Baba Maharaj Singh Ji, the efforts to keep the candle (issue) of Khalsa State burning came almost to an end.

ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਨ।ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਹੂਰੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਡੇਰੇ ਆਮ ਹੀ ਆਉਣ ਜਾਣ ਸੀ।

ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਦਲੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਮਾ ਵੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਸੀ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਬਦਕਿਸਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਕਾਰਜ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਨਾ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਿਆ।

ਓਧਰ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮ੍ਹਾ ਬਲਦੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਤ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਸਿੱਖ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ ਦੀ ਈਨ ਮੰਨ ਲਈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਜਾਗੀਰ ਲੈ ਲਈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ। ਬਾਬਾ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਸ਼ਮ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਪਰਵਾਨੇ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਕਾਲ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੱਕੇ ਰਹੇ।

Sant Baba Karam Singh ji of Hoti Mardan, was born to Mata Subi Kaur and S. Kirpa Singh ji at village Qazian, Dist. Rawalpindi in 1826 AD.

He imbibed Sikh values from home. At an early age, he took Santhya (lessons for correct pronunciation of Guru Granth Sahib ji) and started reciting Gurbani daily, in routine.

By the time he set foot in his youth, stumbling Khalsa Empire was on the verge of collapse. By 1847 AD., Punjab was completely annexed by the British.

Sikhs with combative spirit turned to the service of British army. Sant Karam Singh ji also, in his youth, served British army.

ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਹੋਤੀ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੂਬੀ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਸ. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਕਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਰਾਵਲਪਿੰਡੀ ਵਿਖੇ 1826 ਈ. ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਏ। ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਸੰਥਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਤਨੇਮੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਲੜਖੜਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸਲਤਨਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤਨ ਵਲ ਵਧਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। 1847 ਈ. ਤੱਕ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਵਲ ਰੁਖ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਸੰਤ ਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ।

He was born to Mata Mehtab Kaur and S. Lal Singh Safedposh at village Lopon in 1864 AD. He spent his childhood in his hometown. He learnt Gurumukhi script and lessons of pronunciation of Gurbani from Bhai ji of Gurudwara Sahib. He did household work with the family too.

As an adult, he served the army. He adopted a married life and was blessed with a son. Many Sikh soldiers of Sikh regiment No.36, in which he was posted used to go to Hoti Mardan on a holiday to pay homage to Sant Karam Singh ji.

He was fortunate enough to go with them and have a holy glimpse of (do darshan of) Sant Maharaj ji. As a result of this divine glance of Sant ji, his mind became detached from the world. He decided to quit his household and military job.

Sant Maharaj ji disallowed him to relinquish the job, and ordered that he should retire after getting pension of a Hawaldar. He accepted the directive but stopped going to his hometown Lopon during his annual leave. During the leave, he started doing service (sewa) at Hoti Mardan eagerly.

ਆਪ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੋਪੋਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਫ਼ੈਦਪੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ 1864 ਈ. ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਬਚਪਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਨਮ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਬਤੀਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਭਾਈ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਥਿਆ ਲਈ। ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਹੱਥ ਵਟਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।

ਵੱਡੇ ਹੋਏ, ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ। ਆਪ ਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥ ਮਾਰਗ ਵੀ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਤਰ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ। 36 ਨੰ. ਸਿੱਖ ਪਲਟਨ ਜਿੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਪੋਸਟਿੰਗ ਸੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਫੌਜੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੋਤੀ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਜਾਇਆ ਕਰਦੇ।

ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਲ, ਆਪਦਾ ਮਨ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਘਰ-ਬਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਸੰਤ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਰਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਹੌਲਦਾਰੀ ਪੈੱਨਸ਼ਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਰੀਟਾਇਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਨੇ ਬਚਨ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਪਰ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਨਮ ਨਗਰ ਲੋਪੋਂ ਜਾਣਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਛੁੱਟੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੋਤੀ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

Sant Isher Singh Ji was born of Mata Ratan Kaur, in the household of Sardar Ram Singh Nambardar, on 5th August 1905 at village Allowal, district Patiala.

The parents named their son Gulab Singh. Nobody knew that one day this “Gulab” (meaning rose) would spread his fragrance far and wide. He received the basic worldly education from the primary School of village ‘Chulela’.

For higher schooling he went to his uncle at Patiala and passed his matriculation examination from the Model School. Thereafter the worldly education could not hold his mind and in the state of asceticism he became the disciple of Sant Attar Singh Ji of Reru Sahib.

ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ‘ਆਲੋਵਾਲ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਤਨ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ 5 ਅਗਸਤ, 1905 ਈ. ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰ: ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੰਬਰਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਬਚਪਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੀ। ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਐਸੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਬ ਹੋ ਨਿਬੜੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰੂਹਾਨੀਅਤ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਬੋ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਨੁੱਕਰੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ।

ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡ ‘ਚੁਲੈਲਾ’ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਡਲ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਮੈਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਤੱਕ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੂਆ ਦੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਗਾਰਡੀਅਨ ਸ. ਦਲੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੇਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਅਤਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਸੰਤ ਅਤਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕ ਕੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੋਂ ਈਸ਼ਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਜ ਗਏ।

Sant Kishan Singh Ji, also known as ‘Chhote Sant Ji Maharaj’ was born at Masitan, district Sirsa (Haryana) on 24th December 1900 in the household of Sardar Pala Singh and Mata Chand Kaur.

The early years of his life were spent in performing worldly responsibilities. Although he didn’t receive any formal education, he learned from the village hermits Sant Surmukh Dass and Tota Ram to read and write “Gurmukhi” and also took lessons to recite the Gurbani of Guru Granth Sahib.

In his youth, he joined the ranks of artillery of Patiala. Along with the artillery priest Gurbaksh Singh, he undertook the charge of attending the service of Guru Granth Sahib.

ਸਾਦਗੀ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੰਜ ਸੰਤ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 24 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1900 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਪਿੰਡ ਮਸੀਤਾਂ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਰਸਾ (ਹਰਿਆਣਾ) ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਤਾ ਚੰਦ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਸ੍ਰ: ਪਾਲਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਕਾਇਦਾ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਮੁਖ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਤੋਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਪੜ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਥਿਆ ਲਈ।

ਬਚਪਨ ਮਸੀਤਾਂ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਨ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲ ਪਿੰਡ ਸਿੱਲ੍ਹਵਾਲਾ (ਨੇੜੇ ਹਨੂਮਾਨਗੜ੍ਹ, ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ) ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਤੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗ਼ੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ। ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪ ਪਟਿਆਲੇ ਤੋਪਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਤੋਪਖ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਗੁਰਬਖਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਈ।

His holiness Sant Teja Singh Ji was born at Pohir, district Ludhiana, on 17 Jan. 1927 into the household of Sardar Ram Singh and Mata Sant Kaur. He completed his primary education from the village school. He learnt (to recite) the Gurbani and its recital (Kirtan) under the tutelage of Ghani Gyan Singh of Gurdwara Sahib, Mandi Ahmedgarh. After spending the early years of his youth in Calcutta, Syalkot and Mussouri, he returned to Pohir.

As a child he used to accompany the village congregation to Rara Sahib. But in 1948 he finally resolved to settle at Rara Sahib under the aegis and patronage of Sant Isher Singh Ji and undertook the devout services of the sanctum sanatorium. Delighted with his services the patron saint made him in charge (Shrimaan) of the community kitchen (Guru Ka Langar). He dispensed this service regularly for six years. He also served in the farm of Gurdwara Sahib for a brief spell.

ਸੰਤ ਤੇਜਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਿੰਡ ਪੋਹੀੜ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ 17 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1927 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰ: ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੰਡੀ ਅਹਿਮਦਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਥਿਆ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਮੁੱਢਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਕਲਕੱਤਾ, ਸਿਆਲਕੋਟ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਸੂਰੀ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਪੋਹੀੜ ਆ ਗਏ।

ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਾੜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤਾਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਮਾਰਚ 1948 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਜੀ ਪਾਸ ਰਾੜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਅਣਥੱਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
